Day 20

Hello all, today I decided to split the ride to Roswell, NM and ride 57 miles, so that I can get into Roswell, NM earlier tomorrow and take care of a few things. So 32 miles are on tap for tomorrow. I am doing well and looking forward to having a day off from riding real soon. Hope all is well.

Day 18

Hello all, tonight I am east of San Antonio, NM sleeping under the stars and off a side road. Today was another easy ride of 39 miles. After riding long and hard for a while it has been nice to slow down my pace and not push as hard. Tomorrow I hope to get to Carrizozo about 50 miles away. Tomorrows ride is going to be long, I will have to ride through the Valley of Fires State Park. Hope all is well with everyone. Till next time.

Day 17

Hello all, today Jerry, Lindsay and Joe went on their way south to El Paso, TX and I headed north to San Antonio, NM. We said our goodbyes this morning, it was sad to see my new friends go the opposite way that I was going. I am glad to have met them and gotten a chance to ride with them and gotten to know them. I hope that I might be able to find another group to ride with. After yesterdays long ride from Silver City to Caballo, NM over 80 miles going over Emory Pass at over 8300 feet, I am glad that I only got 60 miles in today to get to my camp tonight. Tonight I am right off the highway camping under a radio tower. I finally got my cell phone to work and was able to call home and check in with Nancy and Tim and I also got to talk with Joan and Eva tonight as well. Tomorrow I hope to get to Carrizozo, NM, but that is an 88 mile ride, Bingham, NM is 52 miles away. So far I have ridden 797 miles. I am excited to have made it this far and I hope that I can get into Texas without any problems. I have sent home some items that I realized I didn't need, but will be buying a few things from Wal-Mart when I can find one that I do need. Hope all is well with everyone, I am excited to hear that more people are reading about my trip each day and the comments keep me going. Thank you to all who have cheered me on the past 2 weeks. I look forward to getting home to share more stories and photos of my trip,

Jochen.

It has been fun riding with Jerry, Lindsay and Joe, I wish you 3 the best of luck on the remainder of your trip. Overall I have ridden 745 miles since I started March 12 in San Diego, CA. Till tomorrow, Jochen.

Days 14 & 15

Hello all, sorry for the late post today and missing yesterdays. I am well and safe in Silver City, NM. We got here last night and I stayed in a hotel here in town. Jerry, Lindsay and Joe went on down the road about 5 miles to a campground for the night. We crossed the border yesterday into New Mexico and I crossed the Continental divide. The riding the past few days has been long and hard. On Monday we rode in the rain all day long. It was nice to get a hot meal, shower and bed to sleep in, thank you Bob and Donna it was nice meeting you and getting to share some stories.

Friday we rode about 67 miles from our camp Thursday night to Silver City, today I rode 5 miles to meet up with Jerry, Lindsay and Joe and to camp with them tonight so we can continue riding together to Caballo, NM. From where we are today it is about 70 miles ride to Caballo with one mountain pass in our way. I am not sure if we will make it all in one day or two. That is why we decided to stop here in Silver City for 2 nights to rest up and stock up for the ride to Caballo. Over all I have ridden 678 miles since I started 2 weeks ago in San Diego.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Jochen

Day 12 & 13

Hello all, tonight I am camping along highway 78 in Arizona. Todays ride from Thatcher, AZ to my camp was about 52 miles. We decided to go north today so that we will go through Silver City instead of Lardsburg to get to I-25. Tomorrow we hope to get to Silver City about 66 miles from where we are at now. I want to give a little update from Tuesday and Wednesdays rides. Like Tim said previously on Tuesday we rode about 75 miles to get east of Globe, AZ and on Wednesday we rode about 41 miles to Thatcher, AZ. Overall I have ridden about 604 miles. My location for Tuesday night did not go out on my GPS so Tim does not have a map location to show you exactly where we stopped for the night.
